# See competitors' posts and Meta ads

> Track competitors' TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X posts and the ads they run on Meta, ranked against each platform's median, in Percify.

Percify's competitor intelligence (Viral Intelligence) shows what the accounts you compete with post on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X, and the ads they run on Meta. Paste a profile link or a Facebook Ad Library link on your brand's **Competitors** page. Their posts are ranked against the median for their platform, so a small account's hit stands out next to a big account's ordinary week. Adding an account costs nothing; refreshing costs credits.

## What you need

* A brand in Percify. See [Brand DNA](/brand-os/brand-dna).
* Credits for refreshes and scans. See [credits](/percify/credits).

## Track a competitor

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Competitors">
    Pick your brand in the sidebar and open **Competitors**. The page has three tabs: **Competitors**, **You** and **Posts**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste a profile link">
    On the **Competitors** tab, paste a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or X profile link (for example `tiktok.com/@handle` or `instagram.com/handle`) and press **Add**. Their recent posts are fetched in the background at no cost.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a Meta advertiser">
    Open the advertiser in the Facebook Ad Library, copy the link and paste it into the same box. The country, media type, active status and sort you picked in the Ad Library are kept, so every refresh shows that same view. If you do not have the link, use **Find a Meta advertiser by name** (**Search · 1** credit).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Refresh">
    Press **Refresh all** to pull new posts for every tracked account, or select one account and press **Refresh @handle**. The button stands out once the posts are more than 24 hours old.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Paste the profile, not a single post: an Instagram post link is refused, so paste `instagram.com/theirhandle` instead. For YouTube, paste the channel link (`youtube.com/@theirhandle`). You can track up to 40 competitors per brand.

## How are posts ranked?

Sort the wall with:

* **Top**: biggest raw reach.
* **Breakout**: furthest above their platform's median.
* **Newest**: most recently posted.
* **Most shown** (Meta ads): Meta's own impression ranking, live ads first.
* **Longest run** (Meta ads): ads running longest, which is what the advertiser keeps paying to renew.

Filter by time (**All time**, **7d**, **30d**, **90d**), platform, language, media type, **Paid** or **Organic**, and **Everything**, **New** (arrived, moved or stopped since the last refresh) or **Saved** (posts you starred).

<Note>
  Meta's Ad Library does not publish spend, reach or view counts for commercial ads, so Meta ads show no view numbers. X posts also come without view counts, so they are ranked on likes, comments and shares.
</Note>

## What can I do with a post?

Open any post to:

* **Break it down**: analyze the hook, scenes, pacing and audio.
* **Take to Replicate**: build a shot-by-shot recreation.
* **Use this format**: point a saved format at this post.
* **Get the script** (Meta ads): the ad's spoken script for 3 credits, refunded when no script exists.

The **Opening frame** panel counts the first word each competitor's captions open with against the median views those posts got, and **Format discipline** shows how consistent each creator's look is.

## How much does it cost?

| Refresh all | 5 credits for every 12 accounts tracked. Each Meta advertiser counts as 25 accounts, because its ads are fetched page by page. |

| Get the script of an ad | 3 credits, refunded if there is none |
| Market scan (**Posts** tab) | 8 credits, plus 12 with **Competitor ads** |

A refresh that finds nothing at all is refunded. If you are short of credits you see "A competitor refresh costs N credits." See [not enough credits](/troubleshooting/not-enough-credits).

## The You and Posts tabs

* **You**: add your own TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or X handles ("Your @handle or profile link", up to 10) to see your posts ranked against your market's median. Meta ad accounts can only be tracked as competitors.
* **Posts**: **Run a scan** searches TikTok, Instagram and YouTube for posts in your market, using your Brand DNA (such as your category and what you offer). Turn on **Competitor ads** to also pull what competitors run on Meta. A scan that finds nothing is refunded, and you can run up to 10 scans a day. Scans also give Composer and new campaigns market angles to write from.

## Boards

Group tracked accounts into named boards, up to 20 per brand. Adding an account while a board is open adds it to that board (**Add to** board name). **Pin** shows a board in the sidebar under the brand. **Share** opens **Publish board**, which makes a read-only public link, with options for **Starred posts only** and **Show the numbers** (views, medians and multipliers). Turn **Publish board** off and the link stops working straight away.
